Welcome to our Book Project page. Right now, we are working specifically on finding books that are anti-racist and diverse in general. Along with these books, we are also creating curriculums for each book focusing on for younger students (K-2nd grade). We been narrowing down a lot of books into our top favorites. The books have to go through a strongly critiqued process, where we research the author, their background, the story behind the book, etc.
Our overarching goal for this project is to have a wide variety of books, and curriculums to go along with them, that are diverse and anti-racist for all VT students K-12. We want to start educating people as early as possible to prevent internalized racism in students of color and teach white students how to be anti-racist. While it may take a while to achieve this goal, we do believe that with the help of other Vermonters we'll be able to accomplish it.
